The Wellhouse, Inc.

About a month ago, The Women’s Ministry at my church had the opportunity of hearing from two amazing women.  Who  together for the first time were sharing the story of The Wellhouse.  The Wellhouse is an emergency shelter for women who have been sexually exploited including trafficking in our area and beyond.

Blog - WomMin-wellhouse-womens mnistry Tajuan McCarty and Lisa “Roxeanne” Holifield  shared their love, passion and faith for an amazing ministry with the Women’s Minsitry at Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene.  I had shared MANY times before with the ladies at my church as well as you, the story of these wonderful women and how God has placed them in my life.  There was an immediate connection and affirmation that I knew was from God.  To my surprise, I knew I needed to do all I could to help these two ladies, personally and professionally.  Surprise.  Yes,  I say surprise… sexually exploited women is not something I had cared to look into before meeting these ladies.  For that matter, if I saw anything like it on television or the news, I changed channels!   I was very UNcomfortable watching it or hearing about  this particular matter.  Now, it weighs heavy on my heart and I am thankful God opened my eyes.  HIS children are hurting and we need to help!

I have to say our meeting was AMAZING!  Such a Spirit filled wonderful time of learning, sharing, growing and fellowship with one of the greatest groups of women you could ever meet.

I wanted Tajuan and Roxeanne to share the story of The Wellhouse, Inc. with these amazing women, but you know… when God shows up you get so much more!

I was amazed and blessed by all of the women who were able to attend, who were so generous and who have committed to pray and support this ministry.

With only a short time after the devestating effects of Aprils Fury, I was weary on throwing such a heavy subject matter back at these ladies.  It had just been days from completely cleaning up Holt Hall from the relief drop-off and pick-up.  Honestly, our church was exhausted.  I did not know how this meeting would be received… but it was as though God opened those double doors and just blew a MIGHTY breath of fresh air throughout that old church.  He reminded us that we are here to serve and not just during national disasters.

You know, we say that we LOVE Christ, we want to be like Christ.  But do we really. . .   You know, we thought it was so cool that Jesus in His amazing humility, would wash his disciples feet, that  he would live a life of suffering for our salvation.  A foot-washing… how cool, but really?!?!   And, do we not do everything in our power NOT to suffer, not to be uncomfortable ~ to live a good, safe life.  If we really want to be like Christ, then we should go to His WORD. . .

Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. 1 John 2:6 (NIV)

Really?!

So. . .   do we really want to be like Christ?!   We love Him.  We admire Him. . .  His servant-hood, His humility, His love, His devotion, His suffering, His sacrifices. . .

We WANT to be like JESUS!!

Really?!

“1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1(NIV)

“10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.”  1 Peter 4:10-11 (NIV)

3 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a]; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” Galatians 5:13(NIV)

If you have never heard of this amazing ministry, I strongly urge you to find out more. . .  I will be thrilled to share all I possibly can with you.  Just leave me a message in the comment section of this post.  If you want to volunteer or support them there are several ways to help.  This is a new ministry and there needs are great.  HOWEVER, if you ask them, they will tell you differently. . .   Our GOD has supplied all their needs. . .   Placing the right people in their course and in their lives to be able to accomplish the task at hand.  There has already been rescues, outreaches,  lives  saved. . .    God is SO GOOD!

This group is truly being the hands and feet of Christ!

Jesus was constantly showing and teaching about servanthood.  One of the most familiar was the washing of His disciples feet.  He wasn’t suppose to be on his knees washing their feet, but in doing so He showed them what a servant looks like.  Humbly loving others. . .

What can we do?  How can we serve others?  It isn’t a one time act of kindness, but it has to be a way of life.  Servanthood is a lifestyle.  How will you choose to live?

I ask you to hide His WORD in your hear. . .  “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a]; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” Galatians 5:13(NIV)

Sending you love and prayers and asking for His mighty presence in each of your lives!
