Covenant Marriage | 01

01. true love

The world has shown us a counterfeit love and sadly we have accepted. Maybe not intentionally but over time we’ve been deceived and it has become our standard.

Whatever your experience with love has been, up until this point, whatever your marriage may look like today…  would you just set that all to the side for now? Would you be willing to walk with me through scripture and be open to something fresh and true?  If you are still here, I am taking that as a YES!  I promise this is going to be good. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t believe God wanted to do something new in your heart and in your marriage.  Let me tell you, sister, there is hope for each of us and our marriage.  True love is real and it is ours for the taking.

I married my childhood sweetheart. Fell for the cutest cotton-top kid around and I asked the Lord to make him mine. Thank God for answered prayers!  Over the past thirty years, my understanding and definition of love have changed with just about every year and season…  But, it has been in the deepest of valleys where I have experienced and come to know true Love.

Before we even begin our study on covenant marriage in scripture, let’s get a clear and pure understanding of biblical love.

Read it…

  • 1 Corinthians 13:7

Divine love has to be foundational.

Through the scriptures in our Monthly Bible Study + Reading Plan, we pray that you will receive insight and vision of a love worth claiming or reclaiming.  Possibly, redefining true love and gaining biblical perspective will help you rebuild on solid ground.

Additional scripture to read…

  • 1 John 4:7-8
  • John 3:16-17
  • Genesis 1:27
  • 1 John 3:16
  • John 15:12-13
  • 1 Corinthians 13:4-5
  • Galatians 5:22-23
  • Romans 5:8

Write it…

  • Ephesians 6:10-20

I know!  That is a LOT of writing…  But I really encourage you to not skip over this portion.  Within this section of scripture, you will learn how to battle.  Sound a little too She-Womanee?  Well, trust me… if you are seeking a covenant marriage you are gonna want to know these verses! Write is down sister and prepare yourself!

And, of course, be sure to… SHARE IT!

I believe spiritual disciplines facilitate a deeper walk with Christ! Read scripture, write it down and share with others what you are learning!  Powerful daily habits to keep us focused on God!

Dear heavenly Father, give us a fresh perspective, kingdom vision and pure hope for our marriage.  Draw us close through your Word as we desire and pursue a deeper and stronger relationship with our spouse.  Help us to cultivate true love in our marriage.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
