RADIANT  |  Day 3…

1002390_10151470855122882_1668635031_ntapped into this whole blogosphere with the one thought; sharing God’s word with my family and close friends.   I felt certain Christ was urging me to spend more time in His WORD and being more intentional with hiding His word in my heart.  I can’t imagine embarking on a 31 day journey and not make His holy word the very center of the study.  So, as we hit hump day as some call it…  I knew Wednesday was perfect to dig a bit into what His scriptures say about being a light to this world.   Each Wednesday we will take a new verse, reading it, studying and memorizing, hiding it in our hearts…  asking God to reveal Himself to us through His word.  At the end of 31 days we will hopefully have hidden four verses in our hearts.

Last night, I shared many verses that defined Christ as the Light {John 8:12}, His word as light {Psalms 119:105}, and looking to HIm we are RADIANT {Psalms 34:5} making us a light to the world {Matthew 5:14}.  For the next seven days I would like be intentional about reading and believing Psalms 34:5…

Those who look to him are radiant;

their faces are never covered with shame.

I just really want to focus on this verse, commit to memory, hiding it in our hearts and believing Christ word to be true.

I have shared here with you all that not long ago, Andy and I went through a very difficult season.  Trying and exciting bringing us both closer to Christ.   I’ll never forget sitting at my kitchen table one night surrounded by precious godly friends, listening to words of encouragement and LIFE; hanging on to every word spoken.  From that night, these two words have been a billboard in my mind…

FIERCE FOCUS

Over the next 29 days, I pray as you visit here each day you will continue to have a fierce focus on Christ face.  In order to be RADIANT we HAVE to reflect the true source of Light; we have to seek His face.  I am reminded of Peter and Jesus walking on the water in the Sea of Galilee.  Afraid they were seeing a spirit, Peter questioned, “Lord, if it’s you, tell me to come to you on the water.”  Jesus calling Peter, he stepped onto the water and began to walk towards Jesus.  Once Peter took his eyes of Jesus, loosing faith and having fear, he began to sink.  If we truly desire to be Radiant, reflecting the one true Light, we have to understand that we must keep our eye on Christ.  Having a FIERCE FOCUS on the face of Christ, not loosing focus through lack of faith, fear and doubt is necessary to being Radiant.  When we take our eyes off oh Christ, we will surely sink.  We must seek the face of Christ with such fierce focus and intent that by doing so we understand His power and our weakness.

God is showing me how to be confident in being Radiant for Him.  No longer we will allow shame, doubt or fear keep us from seeking His face, reflecting His RADIANT Light!

As we look to the Lord, our lives will begin to brighten and there will be evidence of His working in our lives.  We will begin to shine brighter and our spirits will be lifted.

Those who look to Him are radiant;  their faces are never covered with shame.  Psalms 34:5

A few tips on scripture memory…

  • Try to gain understanding of scripture and its relevance to your life.
  • Write your verse down in a notebook or journal.
  • Say your verse aloud.
  • Memorize together…  include friends and family.  Learning together is always much better and fun!
  • Place your verse EVERYWHERE, in your car, kitchen, work area, bathroom…  Post it notes!
  • Sing it in a song!!!
  • Most importantly use your verse in prayer…  Asking God to show you what it is He desires for you to see in His word.  Asking God to let His word come alive in your life.
  • Then, repeat!  Repeat!  Repeat!

I don’t know about you guys, but I am having such an awesome time here with you…  Reading His word, studying His scripture and praying for direction while seeking His radiant light!  Please know I am praying for the person on the other side of this screen.   I am praying that God’s will is at work in your life.  Trusting Him!

Again, verses to pray over…

~ When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

~ Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalms 119:105

~ Those who look to him are radiant;  their faces are never covered with shame.  Psalms 34:5

~ You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.  You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.   Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.   In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.  Matthew 5:13-16
