31 Days of Family Fun…

{DAY 4}

First Avenue Rocks

A couple of months ago, Andy and I stumbled upon this little gem of a place… First Avenue Rocks is this groovy little rock climbing gym that happens to be very family friendly!  Some time back, the kids got real interested in climbing and bouldering.  They had seen some of their Dad’s old gear and had become very interested in trying it out for themselves.  Of course, this thrilled Andy… to the point we now have our very own rock wall.  Oh yeah… We have a rock wall.  This is no surprise to those who know us well and know how we kinda-sorta-maybe go a little bonkers over anything our kids seem interested in… yes, we are those parents.  Its okay though… really… its a good thing.  It keeps things interesting…

Okay, so climbing…

We pulled up and unloaded our bunch and since I come from a long line of serious social anxiety… I always dread going in somewhere for the first time.  But Andy, no… he’s as cool as a cucumber.  Me, I have already thought of 4 reasons as to why I need to stay in the car before we even put it in park.  You know, just go in… check things out… and come out and get me!

And of course he does… he’s so good.

As I wait for the baby to wake, I see a door sling open and he’s way-laying me to come on in… at this point I feel so ridiculous.  So, I go barreling in baby in tow, swing open the door and oh… my… word… How cool!  This place is so groovy!  And of course, Big Daddy has already made friends with the folks and just fits right in…  At this point I always feel so dorky for ever getting nervous…

That being said… this is a really laid back place and you will feel right at home.  My little family has had a lot of fun here!

Since that day, we have been back numerous times and I just love it…  We’ve even taken our bestest buddies {family}.

The people working there have always been so friendly and helpful.  And they have never once acted like my crazy precious little daughter was bothering any of them…

IF you are in the area and looking for something different to do on a Saturday with your family, you should definitely try out this place.  It is fun for everyone in the family…well  the little ones will have to watch, but they will love walking around on the ginormous pads.

By the way… word on the street is my great big glorious painting I got from my precious husband { that beautifully hangs above our piano in our living room} is coming down… apparently it is the perfect place to build another wall.  They will even be able to repel from this one… just grin… grin and nod… grin and nod…

Did I tell you I loved my husband…

Okay…check it out…

Let me know what you think!  If you go, tell them we sent you!

Did I mention they do birthday parties!  Oh yeah!

Make sure you call ahead… they have certain times that the climbing wall is open to the kids!

And by the way, I am  totally in with the folks there now… really…

No, you know you will find me happily sitting on the groovy little red couches cheering on my family… praying that Baby Girl  quits walking up to every stranger  in the place and just staring at them until I am forced to go get and her and interact with other humans… did I mention social anxiety…  you’d never know…

kids!

I love mine!
