Yesterday, as I walked through the Devil’s playground I held the hand of Jesus. I saw the lost, the broken and the weary.
As I got out of my car, I was uncertain of the next hour. As I have mentioned before, The Wellhouse, Inc. has a Special Ops Team that meets every Monday to go out into the field looking for those in need. We limit the outreach to an hour to be respectful of peoples time and for the sweet officer that volunteers to escort us on these missions. Officer Glenn is such a blessing! Every Monday, offering his protection! Such a limited time, BUT it is simply AMAZING to see what God can do in an hour! We too often set limits on God. . . I am just humbled to see His mighty hand at work, it is as if it had been rehearsed. How perfect it always seems to play out. . . whether we notice it or not!
By the time I reached McDonald’s parking lot, I was frazzled and 5 minutes late! Only having an hour, punctuality is very important to this group. I had managed to take the wrong exit and was driving on roads I never knew existed. All the while trying to NOT think about my precious dog who was about to make me a grandmother and TRYING to think about the task at hand. So here I am talking to God, talking to GPS and worshipping with WDJC. I always take this time trying to prepare myself spiritually and mentally for what might await us during this hour.
AS we made our way from one location to the next, I just asked God to show up. . . meet us there. I was getting a little uneasy and I just wanted Him to know we NEEDED Him there to walk with us, to talk for us and to protect us as we looked for the lost.
Right now I am flooded with emotion, overflowing with a JOY unspeakable. . . He NEVER ceases to AMAZE me! In that short little hour I watched God’s MIGHTY hand at work as He led us from one of His own needing strength and protection as he watched terrible things happening day after day, to another with a broken face claiming she knew Him but mocked us asking for prayer {she left one man and joined three others}, to another in tattered clothes wanting what we were giving out {prayer for his protection}, to another who just needed a kind word from a man of God and then just as we were finishing with prayer. . . another who needed a divine intervention. Let me tell you, I HAVE just SEEN JESUS and I will NEVER be the same AGAIN! Can you hear me jumping?!?! Can you hear me praising HIS MIGHTY and powerful and ALL SUFFICIENT, healing NAME?!?! We stood in the middle of a truck stop and watched a beautiful woman walk up to an 18-wheeler and offer herself to truck after truck. As she left one and went to the next, we prayed that she would be DENIED, rejected! Today they would say, No”. We prayed that the men in the cab of those trucks would tell her NO! And PRAISE His NAME, they did! I know this because she told us as her chin quivered with pain, sadness and despair. She tried to get away, but I watched as this precious woman of God, this modern day Debra ran after her . . . she couldn’t get away, not without her knowing how much God loved her! Loved her so much that HE would send His ONLY Son. . . for her. . . for Tanya. As we gathered around I almost couldn’t contain myself. . . I was taken by her beauty. She was someones daughter, maybe someones mother. What had happened, where did her road turn wrong?! We live in a dark world, but I praise God that “The unfolding of your words give light; it gives understanding to the simple.” Psalms 119:130 We prayed with her and told her about Jesus and The Wellhouse and how today we were just 10 reaching out, but there were thousands just waiting to help her. We are praying she will call and let God make a change in her life.
Oh my, what a day. . . even in the darkest of places, His LIGHT shines! Today. . . I saw Jesus.
“Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:11-12
I ask you to join me as I pray for these precious lives . . . Demetrius, Charles, an acquaintance of Charles, Greta and Tanya. “God paid a high price for you, so don’t be enslaved by the world.” 1 Corinthians 7:23
Loving HIM,
Natalie
I can’t wait until school starts back. My schedule at work changed so now I’m off work on Mondays. What a coincidence that it happend the next day after TuJuan came to speak to us. I prayed that night for God to use me and lead me. I went into work the next day and found that my boss had changed my schedule. As soon as the kids go back to school, I will be there with you on Mondays.
