It was love at first site…
Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce…
The new loves of my life. Aren’t they fabulous?!
I don’t really remember how it got started… Let’s blame Jeffrey… No really, I am not certain… In moments like this I go straight to tunnel vision. One minute I was eating at Andy’s Nana’s with the Elrod’s… enjoying the day on the back porch with a full belly and next thing I knew I was having visions of myself… I might have been wearing a bonnet… I might have had a long apron, scooped up like a pouch… there might have been chickens all around my feet… there was butter… handmade soap… and an endless supply of milk… I was dizzy… it was homestead heaven… and I was surrounded by goats…
Next thing… I was on Craig’s list and I had made the call. Yes, did I mention tunnel vision…
Bless his heart, I know better… He has the hardest time telling me no… He told me if I could get a “back-up milker” it was good as done!
By bedtime, thanks to Facebook, I had a couple lined up and the address programmed in our GPS… I don’t mess around… Bless his heart…
In an afternoon, I had made my own milking stand and envisioned the barn of my dreams… Bless his heart.
One look at this and Andy was thinking… bless HER heart! But, HEY! I tried!!
Looked pretty good to me!!
Well, we were set and off we went… It was a day of MANY first!!
And just as we were done and about to leave, I heard her…
“You can’t leave till I treat you to a COLD glass of MILK!” I turned around and there she was with a stack of solo cups and a JUG of goat milk! I looked at Andy and the look on his face was priceless!! HE immediately replied with, “We’ll just share a cup!” and there we had it… our first taste of fresh goat milk… straight from a jug!
Oh yes, we did… I mean, we had too!
She had brought her finest! We had milking goats…
I mean, there was NO turning back now!
So, what did we do… we chugged it!
He wasn’t too sure about the whole thing from the beginning…
But, hey!
He’s a gentlemen!
Wouldn’t dare turn it down.
Next was Emma…
I swear she has an old soul!
I think Will thought she was gonna turn purple or something! And last but not least, Miss Josie was ready for her turn…
And, she wanted another…
Josie likes it!!! Actually, she LOVED it!
Well, with milk mustaches, a car full of goats and hysterical kids… we headed home!
Did I mention we were like TWO hours from home…
We were starting to smell a little goatey, but we didn’t mind… we were in LOVE with these crazy goats… poop pebblets and all!
And he may not admit it, but Andy was falling hard!
Oh, and the goat milk…
It’s an acquired taste.
Natalie, thanks for sharing!!! I love it!!!!!!!
lol Staci!! the memories we’ve made with these goats… you need to come try the milk! 🙂
