Ignite Your Marriage: A Month-Long Scripture Memory Challenge

Marriage

As we all know, life can be an unpredictable journey filled with unexpected challenges that test our patience, strength, and faith, especially in our most important relationships. For Andy and I, there was a season in our marriage that led us to scripture for some kind of direction or guidance. Ephesians 6:10-20 became a beacon of light during one of the toughest periods in our marriage. During a time that seemed very dark and hopeless, through desperation and unlikely events, we stumbled upon a challenge to read this set of verses together, aloud, daily. This set of scripture would unexpectedly become our anchor, our source of strength, and the catalyst for a thriving marriage. Andy and I witnessed a remarkable transformation in ourselves, our relationship, our family and our home.

When God does something amazing in your life, it is hard to keep it to yourself. We wanted to share what God was doing in our marriage and we knew we had to encourage others to take part in what we knew to be a life changing experience. So… we invite you to join our Scripture Challenge this month, where you will be encouraged to read the Bible daily and hide God’s WORD in your heart. This challenge isn’t just about reciting and memorizing verses; it’s about allowing the power of scripture to penetrate your heart and soul.  We will break down this powerful passage week by week, exploring its wisdom, its significance and the impact it can have on your life.

So, The Challenge… over the next 30 days, read aloud Ephesians 6:10-20, no exceptions. If the opportunity allows, I encourage you to read this with your husband. Now, I know this might seem weird at first, the thought of even asking your spouse might discourage you from the whole challenge in itself or cause you to do it alone. To be frank, I thought about all the things Andy and I had done together over the years and realized reading scripture together out loud couldn’t be all that awkward…

Below you will find a printable using the FLOW method for you to study each day. Each week we will break down the passage in to 4 sections and spend time reading and meditating. You can choose to focus on the different sections each week or try and tackle the whole scripture each day. Repetition is key! This is the first time we have done such a large passage. However, using the FLOW method, I am certain we can easily memorize and hide Ephesians 6:10-20 in our hearts!

Now, if you aren’t sure about the whole FLOW method, you can find more on FLOW here and how this simple way of memorization can help you easily memorize Bible verses! It’s fabulous.

You in? GREAT! I am so so excited! Now, lets get started…

Ephesians 6:10-20 is a passage you most likely have heard of… The Armor of God, but we are taking it a step further and not only meditating but memorizing! Get ready for your world to be ROCKED!

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,  and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.  Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,  for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

Ephesians 6:10-20

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.”

Ephesians 6:10

We kick off our challenge with the foundational verse of Ephesians 6:10, that reminds us that our true strength comes from the Lord. When life becomes overwhelming, these words keep us anchored in God’s mighty power.  Here we find our peace, strength and the courage to face any adversity.

“Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

Ephesians 6:11

In week two, we dive deep into Ephesians 6:11, which calls us to put on the full armor of God. As we memorize these words, we’ll explore what it means to stand firm against the challenges and temptations that seek to disrupt our lives.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground.”

Ephesians 6:12-13

Week three addresses the spiritual battles we face daily. These verses emphasize that our struggles extend beyond the physical realm. Listen to me, THIS verse was a GAME-CHANGER for me personally and my marriage. I really believe that if we embrace God’s armor, we can not only courageously stand our ground but fiercely attack the gates of hell.

“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,  and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

Ephesians 6:14-20

In our final week of the challenge, we’ll explore each piece of the spiritual armor that Paul describes in Ephesians 6:14-20. Each of these pieces symbolize an essential tool for spiritual growth and strength. Meditating and memorizing these verses will equip you with the spiritual tools necessary to thrive in your faith and protect your relationships.

Our journey through Ephesians 6:10-20 literally transformed our lives, our marriage, our family and our home. With everything in me, I believe it can do the same for you!

One last thing, this wasn’t all spiritual and beautiful for Andy and I… Although we stuck to this challenge, many days Andy or I read this scripture mad, a little sad and even at times with a few cuss words. But, we did it, because we knew something had to change for our marriage and we knew God would be the difference. Together, let’s embrace the power of scripture and let this intentional time mark our lives forever.
