when you feel you have no purpose…

Have you ever felt so displaced, out of sorts, without a mission?  You seem to be surrounded by those with “a calling”,  a purpose.  Where could you possibly fit in…  Why should you make the effort to find your place, your reason.  You wonder if you have been forgotten when all around, God seems to be working in every ones life BUT yours!

Sitting on the side lines watching others in the spotlight…  Slowly thinking and slipping into this self-doubt, this lesser-than…  The enemy loves this…  he waits and readies himself, anxious to pounce on your fears and self-worth.

I would imagine Ruth felt this way…  Barren, broken and without purpose.  When there was nothing else for her, she did the only thing she really knew to do…  she followed.  With devotion she clung to her mother-n-law and followed her back to the land of Judah.  Through her devotion and obedience, she found favor and PURPOSE.  In a time where things seem as though God is absent or far away, we find that is when He is laying the foundation of

At mealtime Boaz said to her, “Come over here. Have some bread and dip it in the wine vinegar.” When she sat down with the harvesters, he offered her some roasted grain. She ate all she wanted and had some left over. As she got up to glean, Boaz gave orders to his men, “Let her gather among the sheaves and don’t reprimand her. Even pull out some stalks for her from the bundles and leave them for her to pick up, and don’t rebuke her.” {Ruth 2:14-16}

Just as Boaz gave Ruth purpose, our heavenly Father gives us PURPOSE.  He has chosen you to be a part of the BIG Plan, He HAS given You PURPOSE.  Be confident in your role with Christ.  And when self-doubt seems to be creeping in…  do the one thing you know to do, CLING to Him, follow Him.  Be obedient.

In the greatest of stories…  we see how The Lord used the most unlikely, unqualified, the less-than and HE gives them PURPOSE!

Heavenly Father, I pray that we will KNOW that you have given us purpose.  I pray that through your spirit we will have confidence in knowing we are apart of your plan.  Give us a burning desire in the pit of our bellies ~ that we canNOT ignore ~ urging us to follow and be obedient to you…  even when we can’t see the picture or we are unclear of our purpose.  We ask that in our obedience you give us GREAT purpose, bringing you eternal glory.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:28
