Hey Guys,
Sorry I am coming to you so late in the week. Andy and I have been really sick and haven’t been able to send a new verse out. I have really enjoyed searching for these verses and reading the Word of God. The whole thing has really been a blessing. I appreciate your comments and support. We will continue to lift each other up and give Him the Glory!!
Just a reminder, please continue to keep you Word Warrior buddies in your prayers. So many things are going on with each one of us. Blessings and praise reports are all around!
Well, lets get to it…
The Signature of Jesus!
<>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< The fish symbol is one of the earliest symbols of christianity and was the most common representation of Jesus Christ from the 2nd to the 4th centuries. You can find the symbolism of the fish throughout the bible. Jesus used it many times in his parables to the people. It was said to have been used as a secret code to identify one to another as a christian. After the ascension of Jesus the christian church was growing rapidly. Christians found themselves to be the subjects of persecution by both Jews and the Romans. In many areas it became very dangerous to be known as a christian. It has been told that when two strangers met and thought that the other might be a fellow believer. He would draw an upper arc of the fish symbol on the ground. If the other person recognized the symbol, he would finish with a lower arc to create the fish symbol. It was a very simple symbol to draw and could just as easily be erased as it was drawn if the stranger did not recognize the symbol. Today, the person who displays the fish symbol has accepted the same New Testament teachings as the earliest Christians accepted, that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Savior !! How do you display your fish symbol? Some people choose to display this symbol in many different ways. Today, you can just about find it on anything and everything. It can be seen on the back of cars, on jewelry, clothing and even tattoos! It is a wonderful thing to show to others. It represents that you have chosen by faith to enter into a personal relationship with Him and understand the reality of God’s forgiveness. Romans 10:9 reads, “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”.
Do others see Jesus’ signature written across your life? How do you display the fish symbol? The best way to witness to others is to show them Him in your life, in your actions! We are hiding His word in our heart so that others will see Him in us. “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” James 1:22 (NIV)
Let others see your fish symbol through your faith in Jesus Christ. In order for others to see Jesus’ signature in our lives, we must put action to our faith. Our faith and our actions need to work together. As Abraham put his faith and his actions together he was considered righteous.”You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.” James 2:22. The scripture goes on to read, “You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.” James 2:24.
Display your fish symbol proudly!!!
You know my PawPaw LOVED to witness to others. I mean, if he had any idea that someone might not be saved,he would grab a buddy and before you knew it, he was sitting on there couch asking them point blank if they believed in Jesus Christ. There were times he would confront them right then and there. I always admired the way he witnessed to people. I am very proud to say he lead alot of people to the Lord. His walk with Christ has been an amazing influence in my life. I am a little ashamed to say, that at this time, I am still striving to have the ability he possessed to witness to others. I definitely take a much more quieter approach. I do pray that this changes over time and I can be a better witness for Him. Hopefully by hiding His word in my heart, I am doing just that. But, the one thing I have learned through reading and studying my Bible, is this…actions do speak louder than words!
So, again I say display your fish proudly!!! Let it be a proclamation of your faith and let your faith and your actions work together to further the Kingdom of God. This might be the only way to witness to some people!
Out of the verses used, I would suggest hiding Romans 10:9 in your heart. It probably would be the most helpful in a situation. And so simple, He doesn’t make it hard. You just have to believe in Him!!
“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”. Romans 10:9 I want to thank my brother for being such an influence to me! If anyone knows me, they know without a doubt I LOVE MY BROTHER!!!! I just want him to know how proud of him I am. And I want to encourage him as well as all of you (and myself) to put action to our faith. Whether it is sitting on someone’s couch and in their face or passing along a verse to your dearest friends. My prayer this week is that we will not be afraid to draw that upper arc. You never know who might complete the fish! What a wonderful symbol of Jesus!
“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19
I love you guys and hope the rest of your week is wonderful!
Your sister in Christ,
Natalie
